A bit of blurb about the Maggie Brown Band.....
Just popped by from THE DIPSTICKS R-T-Y-D fansite to register the interest of myself and my current cohorts in the Maggie Brown Band: an as yet very loose project aimed at reviving a blues band we ran a couple of years ago that died a rather unneccesary death - for one reason or another.
We had a quite successful residency in the cellar bar of the Constitution Pub on St. Pancras Way and did a couple of well received spots at the Camden Sq. and Green Fayre festivals until members life-commitments put paid to out efforts.
We currently comprise Maggie Brown on vocals and harp; Jill Grainger on keyboards; THE DIPSTICKS' Angela Ierodiaconos on drums; and myself THE DIPSTICKS' Mark McKendrick on bass.
We are still searching for that illusive guitarist who can play Need Your Love So bad note-for-note but who isn't aspiring to be the next Alvin Lee.
We've run a couple of unsuccessful auditions and will be looking at a couple of other players within the next month or so - again those life commitments prevent doing anything sooner.
Up to now the four of us have been looking through the old set-lists of about forty classics and have concentrated on the 'best ten' or so - more recently adding Baby Washington's Doodlin' and Dusty Springfield's Spooky (not strictly a blues, I know, but oh how groovy!!!) to the list.
More news as we get it.
Cheers,
Mark.
